My name is Betsy Albert. I am excited to be back in 1st grade! I have been in education for twenty years. I received my B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Colorado and my Master's in Elementary Education from the University of Nevada. This is my fourteenth year at Little Flower School. I have taught kindergarten, first, third, and fifth grades. After a brief survey of intermediate grades, I have come to realize that I enjoy working with 1st graders the most. In addition to teaching 1st grade, I will be teaching general music to grades K - 5. I live in Reno with my family and new puppy, George Theodore.
Miss Acosta is our first grade aide. Born and raised in Reno, she attended Our Lady of the Snows and Bishop Manogue. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and her Master's degree in Neuroeducation at the University of Portland. She taught prekindergarten at a parochial school in Oregon and first grade at Little Flower. This year she will be teaching the first graders Science, Social Studies, and Religion. Brittany is happy to be back in her hometown and is eager to give back to the community she grew up in!

At Little Flower we use Journeys to deliver literacy instruction. This week we will work on Lesson 29, students will practice suffixes -ful, -ly, -y, vary kinds of adverbs, and write to respond. We will read the mystery "A Boat Disappears."
At Little Flower we use Math in Focus to deliver math instruction. This week we will work on Chapter 16, Numbers to 120.
We will NOT be testing this week.
Homework folders will be coming home on Monday this week. Please return the folders on Thursday. We will NOT have homework this week.

School will not be in session on Monday, May 27, 2019 in observance of the holiday.
Last Day of School
Thursday, June 6, 2019 is the last day of school. Students will be dismissed at 12:30pm. The after school program will not be available. We hope you enjoy your summer!!
Our weekly school mass is on Thursday at 10:00am. Families are welcome to join us. Please get a nametag in the school office at 9:45am.
Our School Day
School begins at 8:20am and ends at 3:15pm, Monday through Friday. Students will be marked tardy at 8:30am. At pick up, be prepared to show identification before signing your children out. Students who are not picked up by 3:30pm will be walked to the after school program.
